The customer is at the centre of everything in the sport and active leisure industry. As a result, meeting customer expectations is a key skill. Although the government wants individuals to be more physically active, many may not be able to access typical sport and leisure activities, due to their specific needs.
Very often the customer service offered participants, or simple adaptations to price, activities or facilities are all it takes to allow someone to participate. In this unit you will identify the needs of different individuals and groups and how you could improve their opportunities to take part in different sport and active leisure activities. You will also learn that under law, sport and active leisure organisations are required to make ‘reasonable adjustments’ to activities and facilities to meet the needs of participants.
The applied purpose of this unit is for you to review and suggest improvements to current access to sport and active leisure for different customer groups. You will also have the opportunity to demonstrate your ability to meet the customer service needs of sport and active leisure participants.
