OpenOffice.org 3 is the leading open-source office software suite for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, databases and more. It is available in many languages and works on all common computers. It stores all your data in an international open standard format and can also read and write files from other common office software packages (including Microsoft Office). It can be downloaded and used completely free of charge for any purpose. OpenOffice.org is widely regarded as the best alternative to buying Microsoft Office for a home PC. Important note regarding file formats: We highly recomend that any students completing work at home using OpenOffice.org save their work in the relevant Microsoft Office file format (.doc, .xls, .ppt, etc.), rather than the default OpenOffice format. The file format can be selected when saving your file for the first time (or whenever you use the Save As feature). |
